Litigation Attorney The candidate provides full workers compensation legal services to one or more departments or specialty. Has ongoing relationship and accountability to the department being served and the insureds. Handles workers compensation matters in Michigan from start to finish, including trying cases. Tries cases in the Michigan Bureau of Workers Compensation, including court appearances, trial preparation, motions, discovery and negotiations. Provides research, legal analysis, factual information, counsel and guidance on legal questions or issues. May perform additional duties as assigned.
The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree with J.D. degree and admission to the Bar of at least one state. Must have 7+ years of solid legal experience in the Michigan Workers Compensation area with a proven track record of results. Should have advanced knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and procedures of litigation management within an insurance organization, especially as it relates to Michigan workers compensation. Must have knowledge of MS Office Suite and other business-related software.
