International Counsel The candidate will be responsible for providing quality comprehensive legal services relating to the Company's international operations. Will work closely with Managing Counsel, General Counsel, brand executives and field organization to ensure that the Company is and remains in compliance with all legal requirements concerning its international business, including international licensing, franchising, sub-franchising, procurement, distribution, employment, operations, marketing, corporate structure, trademark registration and protection, and enforcement. Handle substantial negotiation relating to business initiatives, review and negotiation of contracts. Ensure legal compliance of contracts and other documents. Work collaboratively with all levels of corporate management and legal department members, providing strategic and tactical advice. Champion change and process improvements. Will also regularly perform general legal assignments. Performs fundamental and technical legal work (including transactional drafting and negotiating) and counseling of company clients in connection with designated legal fields and special projects. Maintain and manage the budget and relationships with external law firms and other service providers to the Company with respect to international matters. Keep current with changes and developments in the law relating to the issues set forth above and disseminate that knowledge as appropriate. Execute against the company strategy. Participate in the initiation and planning phases by gathering project data and requirements and providing input on project activities and timing. Utilize project management tools and disciplines to complete project assignments and meet deadlines. Help identify and resolve project related risks and issues. Participate in the evaluation of the project by giving input for post-project evaluations and lessons learned. Primary responsibility for the planning, execution and evaluation of the project. Select, direct and provide coaching and feedback to the project team. Monitor and report project status to the team, sponsors and leadership. Utilize project management tools and disciplines to execute project processes, including: risk management, issues resolution, change management, quality assurance, and document management. Ensure project deliverables are completed, with quality, in a timely manner. Build and gain support for business case. Ensure project is aligned with short term and long term organizational strategy. Select, direct and provide coaching and feedback to the project manager. Review and approve plans, budget, resources, and timeline. Ensure the identification and resolution of project related issues and barriers. Approve final deliverables, and lead project evaluation and close.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Should have strong project management and organizational skills. Should have proficient computer skills, including MS Professional Office Suite. Experience with case management software is a plus. Know and understand the discovery and litigation process required.
