Full-time Crappy phone job for crappy pay

at Insoft USA in Jacksonville, FL

My company is Insoft USA. We provide web design and development services. Recently, my workload has been growing and I don't have the time to manage existing client needs while also searching for new clients. I need someone who will help me to generate new leads by searching for potential clients and partners (other businesses) and then cold calling them to gauge interest.

This is not a pure sales position. It's more of a lead-generation role. You won't be expected to close any deals. The prospects that you identify and qualify will be referred to me and I will finish the sales process. Your success will be based upon 1) how many new prospects you can identify, and 2) how many of those prospects eventually become clients.

It would be great if you know something about web design/development, although it is not a requirement of the job. You don't need to know any of the underlying technologies, although it would be helpful if you at least understand the most common acronyms (HTML, CSS, JS, PHP, .NET, SQL, etc.)

The work is crappy. You get to sit in our spacious, quiet office (it's like a library in here) and call a bunch of people who probably aren't interested in talking to you. The job is onsite at our office in Mandarin (near San Jose & Sunbeam) and must be done during "standard business hours".

The resources are poor. I don't have a stack of people for you to call. I can point you in the right direction and give you some tips for identifying potential clients, but I don't have a pile of leads for you to dive into. You will need to be able to take some direction and then go "beat the bushes". If you can identify particular tools you need to do your job better, we can buy them, but those tools are not currently in place.

The pay stinks. We are offering $10/hour. You can work a maximum of 40 hours/week. If your leads turn into sales, we will pay you 10% of the top-line revenue from the engagement for the first 6 months. How much money is that? Well, most of our clients start off by paying us somewhere around $3,000/month. It is not uncommon for us to have engagements that cost $7k-$15k. If you're setting up regular leads, and a portion of those leads are closing on a regular basis, it is very reasonable to believe that you could be getting an extra $1k-$2k per month on top of your hourly wage - but it would probably take you several months to get to that point. If you don't make a lot of calls, it's doubtful that you would ever get to that point.

My company has only been in business for 5 months. This means that you get all the crap that comes (or doesn't come) with working for a startup. We have no 401k. We have no childcare. There will be no office Christmas party. You won't have a company phone or a company laptop or a company car. There is no one to walk around on Fridays and give back rubs. The best part is that you get to spend most days sitting in the office with me. I am your typical entrepreneur. My vision is legendary. My knowledge is unbounded. My charm is overwhelming.
