Attorney - Head ERISA Counsel The candidate will be a member of the legal team supporting the Global Markets businesses. Responsibilities will include: providing legal support for a broad range of ERISA and Internal Revenue Code issues arising in connection with trading activities with institutional clients in particular retirement plans and other ERISA/Code governed clients; advising on ERISA related trading issues including provisions in ISDA Master Agreements and prime brokerage documents; assessing regulatory changes and impacts on trading with ERISA governed clients; and evaluating and assisting in advisory opinions and exemptive relief from the Department of Labor.
The candidate must have 6+ years of relevant experience at a major financial institution (ideally a member of ERISA legal team at that institution) or relevant legal experience at a top-tier law firm with a strong presence as counsel on ERISA issues. A strong understanding of ERISA and Internal Revenue Code, financial products particularly derivatives, strong communication skills to explain the complexities of ERISA.
