In this role you will primarily do community and school outreach to inspire others to plant more trees and take action to care for our environment. Initial training is provided, however, once in placement, daily supervision is much less intensive. Therefore, participants need to be self-starters. Specific activities will vary from location to location, but typically include:
- Developing and conducting workshops for the community on environmental issues
- Arranging and conducting school tree planting trips, establishment of tree nurseries
- Giving presentations to schools on environmental education topics
- Leading environmental campaigns in your area
During your stay you will learn about the importance of sustainable forestry and its role in combating climate change. All applicants should be pro-active, not afraid to speak in public, and able to adapt to a language barrier. So don’t wait any longer. Join the fight against climate change TODAY!
Training begins on the first Tuesday of every month and lasts for 4 days. Training will include Thai language and culture, Introduction to PATT, Tree Planting & Community Forestry workshops, Health & Safety, Orientation to Bangkok, and personalised placement consultations. Placement locations vary according to need, but are typically in the Chiang Mai province of northern Thailand.
Cost
Participants will be expected to cover their own costs. A deposit of 100 GBP will secure your placement. After that, the remaining Program Fee is
- 1 Month: 497 GBP
- 2 Months: 797 GBP
- 3 Months: 1097 GBP
The Program Fee covers airport pickup, all your food and accommodation while on placement, all training costs, transport out to your placement, supervision and support.
Costs not covered by the Program Fee include international flights to/from Bangkok, Tourist visa, transport back to Bangkok (or other onward destination) after placement, travel insurance, personal costs such as internet, laundry, etc.
