Job Title : Biologist – II (Associate)

Description:
This exciting position within the Reagent Production Group of the Biochemical Discovery Biology Department at site will enable drug lead discovery and optimization through protein expression and characterization for use in X-ray crystallography and high-throughput screening. The incumbent will perform small and large scale protein expression tests in prokaryotic and eukaryotic hosts using high-throughput methods.
Requirement:
BA/BS – Biochemistry/Biology or related discipline with 2 – 4 years experience. Demonstrated success expressing recombinant proteins in prokaryotic and eukaryotic hosts (E.coli, insect cells, mammalian, yeast). Experience transfecting and maintaining mammalian (e.g., CHO, HEK etc) and insect (e.g., Sf9, Sf21, T.ni etc) cell lines, generating AcNPV baculovirus stocks, characterizing proteins by SDS-PAGE and western analysis, determining protein concentration via standard spectroscopic methods (Bradford, A280nm etc) and using Wave bioreactors is a must. Data management skills are required. Experience using alternate expression systems (e.g., yeast, cell-free etc). Knowledge of molecular biology, structural biology, protein purification, liquid handlers, or HTS. Industry experience.
