The Department of Information Systems in the College of Information Technology invites nominations and applications for the position of NTT Lecturer.
Position Description. The NTT Lecturer reports to the Chair of the Department of Information Systems, and is a 9-month renewable appointment beginning August 1, 2010, that has a starting salary of $45,000. NTT Lecturers are eligible for merit pay increases and to receive additional compensation for teaching Summer Semester courses when summer teaching opportunities are available. The NTT Lecturer is expected to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning and to using technology in teaching. The NTT Lecturer must be committed to departmental, college, University, professional, and community service, and have experience with working in diverse academic and professional communities. The ability to contribute to a positive work environment in the department, college, and University is also expected as well as a strong orientation to recruiting, advising, retaining, and mentoring qualified students.
Required Qualifications:
• MSIS, MBA with IS Concentration, or MBA with relevant work experience by August 1, 2010.
• Minimum of two years full-time university-level teaching experience (teaching networking, project management, enterprise resource planning, Java programming, or computer applications) at a fully accredited university or comparable corporate training experience.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Evidence of above-average teaching ability.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students and colleagues.
• Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively contribute to departmental, college, university, professional, or community service activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
• MSIS or MBA from AACSB accredited business school.
• Ph.D., doctoral degree, or the completion of significant doctoral course work.
• CISSP, Network+, PMP, SAP TERP10, MCAS Certification in Excel or Access, or professional certification relevant to at least one IS degree program emphasis area.
• Experience teaching a wide range of courses relevant to the department’s core program and emphasis areas.
• Experience teaching upper division courses.
• Demonstrated effectiveness as an academic advisor or mentor to students.
• Two or more years of relevant private sector work experience.
• Demonstrated interests in ongoing professional development.
