One of the major foreign Oil & Gas Companies has opened a vacancy of Senior Geophysicist.

The main purpose of the work at this position is to deliver seismic interpretation and geoscience integration of the regional and renewal work in the Middle East.

To coordinate delivery of the more junior staff and serve as a technical coach and mentor to Middle East-based junior members of the subsurface staff.

Key to the role are the following:

• Experience in subsurface integration that requires advanced knowledge of geophysics and understanding of geology.
• Experienced in the use of seismic interpretation software ( Landmark experience in particular)

The position is based in the Middle East and may have business trips within Middle East and abroad.

Reporting Relationship:
Job reports to the Exploration manager within Company’s Middle East Strategic Performance unit.

Accountabilities:

• Direct accountability for delivery of the integrated seismic interpretation of the Arctic areas and contribute to delivery of the high-graded portfolio of exploration opportunities in the Middle East.
• Contribute advanced technical expertise and advice in areas of geophysics, seismic processing, seismic interpretation, and exploration.
• Coordinate day-to-day communication within the joint exploration team in Middle East, organizing peer assists and reviews.
• Accountable for technical mentoring and coaching of junior staff working within the exploration team.
• Develop and maintain a broad network of technical contacts within Company with discipline networks and with our Middle East contractors and contributors, e.g. institutes and geophysical companies.
• Lead role in development and implementation of the detailed annual plan in areas of seismic acquisition, seismic purchases, and delivery of the seismic interpretation projects.
• Planning and organizing multiple seismic acquisitions, seismic reprocessing projects that may span over 2-4 years.

Experience and Expertise (typical educational qualification & experience):

• University degree in geology or geophysics or other relevant discipline.
• A minimum of 10 – 15 years of relevant post degree experience in a wide range of exploration projects.
• Proven track record of delivery of seismic interpretation projects prior to assuming the role in the Middle East Offshore.
• Experience in subsurface integration that requires advanced knowledge of geophysics and understanding of geology.

Skills:

• Excellent understanding of exploration geoscience practices and their applications in the basin and play selection process
• Geoscience workstation skills, especially Landmark based system
• Project management
• The ability to work under pressure;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Fluent Middle East language and good English language skills.
• Good teamwork skills
• Ability to meet deadlines;
• Desire to continue learning and development through courses and project work
• Ability to persist in pursuing goals despite obstacles and setbacks
