Job Title : Biologist – I (Assistant)
Location : Boston, MA

Description:
This position will support drug discovery at in the department of In Vitro Sciences, with a focus on maintaining quality cell cultures of biologically relevant cell lines. The contracted individual will be a member of the Centralized Cell Culture team that supports research efforts in Oncology and Bone, Respiratory, & Inflammation disease areas. Duties will include initiation and propagation of cell lines, banking and sterility testing of newly acquired lines and engineered lines, inventory management and distribution of flasks or cryovials. Centralized Cell Culture team makes extensive use of advanced technology and automation, hence experience with cell culture automation or liquid handling instrumentation a plus.

Requirement:
A B.S. or M.S. degree in Life Sciences with 1-3 years academic or industry experience. Required- Our main goal in Centralized Cell Culture is to enable research scientists to conduct drug discovery research in a timely and efficient manner by providing high quality cell line preparations. Primary responsibilities of this position are cell line initiation, maintenance, banking, sterility/mycoplasma testing, and inventory management. The successful candidate should have basic training in standard cell culture methods: thaw and initiation of a cell line cryovial, serial passaging, cell counting, expansion, cryopreservation, and documentation. Excellent aseptic technique is a must. Experience with Tecan Cellerity or Tecan Evo systems is a definite plus.
