Summary:
Responsibilities include auditing, specification development, assessing food quality and food safety programs, and troubleshooting issues of moderate complexity. These positions require working cross-functionally within Quality & Regulatory Compliance (QRC) and with other departments.
Global Manufacturing Alliances Quality:
Responsibilities include:
1) auditing potential and existing contract manufacturing/packing facilities to ensure compliance with Hershey standards and applicable government regulations.
2) serving as QRC representative for new product start ups at contract manufacturing/packing facilities. This also includes conducting QDRs (Quality Design Reviews), developing specifications, and assuring that food quality and food safety programs are operational and effective.
Responsibilities:
40% Compliance: Implementing quality systems and programs to ensure regulatory standards are consistently achieved. Provides training, auditing of quality systems, troubleshooting and incident management.
- Auditing: Conducts quality systems audits across Supply Chain to ensure compliance
standards are met. Provide audit summaries to Hershey's Senior Management and
external business partners.
- Training: Provides training on regulatory issues and Hershey's quality programs to
internal and external business partners.
- Incident Management: Directs troubleshooting incidents of moderate complexity
including those with large financial or regulatory impacts.. Partners with cross functional
groups (Marketing, Legal, etc.) and external business partners to ensure
communications and action plans are established. Ensure timely and cost-effective
resolutions are achieved.
30% Project Leadership / New Product Support: Acts as QA representative on multi-functional project teams or complex assignments. May coordinate new product efforts from initial test runs to full-scale production to assure integrity of systems.
20% Subject Matter Expert: At this level, incumbent is considered to be a "generalist" with broad based knowledge in multiple areas including knowledge of local regulations, industry practices, and corporate policies related to these areas. Would have a full understanding of corporate wide quality systems, with ability to implement as required.
10% Continuous Improvement
Facilitate process/procedure improvement sessions related to: incident management, product quality/safety issues, and overall quality system improvements.

Ingredient suppliers (A) Conducts 30 -50 audits/yr
Contract manufacturers/packers (B) Manages 6-10/yr
Subject Matter Expert (AB) QA, Sanitation, GMPs, HACCP
Interaction w/ Management (AB) Manager and Director level
Project Risk/Exposure Scope (AB) Handles high visibility issues impacting suppliers (A) or contract manufacturers/co-packers (B)
Qualifications:
Education: B.S. in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field
Experience: This position can be filled at multiple levels depending on experience. Minimum of 4 years in Quality Assurance with 2 years of food industry QA experience or equivalent related experience.
Detailed knowledge of regulatory and quality system requirements - e.g. HACCP, Good Manufacturing Process (GMP)
Additional Requirements:
Ability to travel 50% with potential weekend stays.
Valid drivers license.
Superior communication skills in verbal and written form.
Ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees (from Production to VP level).
Ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
Ability to represent Hershey and make tough decisions like rejecting potential/existing external business partners based on audit findings
Proven problem solving/trouble shooting skills
In depth understanding of a production / manufacturing environment
Advanced proficiency in computer programs / software such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, SAP (Recipe Management), Net Weight and QA Trends
