Job Title: Clinical Manager/Educator of Oncology

JOB SUMMARY:
Supports the Director of Clinical Oncology in the operational oversight of clinical activities. Fosters the professional growth of the unit staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
a) Makes patient rounds as indicated per nursing unit and patient status to identify problems and needs
b) Identifies and confronts issues that affect the quality of patient care. Communicates these concerns through incident reports and through the chain of command as appropriate.
c) Provides input into staff performance evaluations by noting educational, competency and performance deficits.
d) Counsels staff members, as indicated, and serves as mediator for personnel problems.
e) Development of nursing and hospital policies and procedures and regular review and revision of such.
f) Conducts and participates in quality assurance and improvement studies.
g) Serves as a consultant to staff in areas of expertise and interpretation of policies and procedures.
h) Assesses level of competency and knowledge base of nurses and other ancillary personnel based on written exam, direct observation of skills, interview techniques and informal conversation and assists in the development and implementation of programs, teaching tools, and orientation materials.
i) Utilizes expertise to evaluate products and equipment for patient and staff use.
j) Assesses patient needs and develops the plan of care based on collection of data, both subjective and objective and observation of patients clinical status.
k) Provides in depth custodial and technical nursing care to (geriatric, adult and adolescent patients based on nursing assessments and diagnoses and the patient’s physical, mental and emotional needs, as well as on physician’s medical care plans.
Required:
i) Bachelor of Science preferred
ii) Minimum 5 years relevant clinical experience
iii) 2 years progressive nursing management experience with demonstrated success in area of specialty.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
• Registered Nurse in the State of Florida
• Certified in Basic Life Support
• Advanced Life Support and Basic ECG
• Specialty or administrative certification desirable
