Georgia Southern University, a member institution of the University System of Georgia, invites nominations and applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Organic Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry in the Allen E. Paulson College of Science & Technology.

Position Description. Reporting to the Department Chair, the Assistant Professor will be expected to perform the duties of regular, tenure-track faculty members. The teaching assignment will be primarily in the organic chemistry sequence, with lower division courses and upper division courses appropriate to the candidate’s expertise. The position is a 9-month appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Required Qualifications:
• PhD in chemistry or related field by August 1, 2010
• Ability to establish a productive research program involving undergraduate students
• Demonstrated command of written and spoken English
• Evidence of teaching and research abilities
• Ability to work with diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications:
• Postdoctoral experience in teaching and/or research
• Potential for collaborative research, both within and outside the Department
