The Collection and Resource Services Department in the Zach S. Henderson Library invites nominations and applications for the position of Coordinator of Continuing Resources.
Position Description. Reports to the Head of Collection and Resource Services. Manages Continuing Resources Team and collaborates on procedures related to orders, receipts, and invoices for continuing resources, print and electronic. Responsible for resolving complex problems related to orders, renewals, and access of continuing resources. Maintains and disseminates data on subscriptions, standing orders, databases, licenses, trials, costs, impact, and usage rights. Establishes and maintains a system to generate usage reports on information resources needed for ongoing assessment. Works with SFX, Verde, and Voyager. Communicates with other units of the library and individuals regarding electronic access issues. Sets up trials for electronic resources. Participates in reviewing contracts, license terms, and product license negotiations. Tracks licenses to point of activation and administers new and existing licenses.The position is a 12-month tenure track faculty appointment at the level of assistant professor. Entry level salary is $40,000 and is negotiable depending upon qualifications and experience. In accordance with University System of Georgia requirements for promotion and tenure, all faculty must achieve the following: superior teaching, demonstrating excellence in instruction; outstanding service to the institution, profession, and/or the community; outstanding research, scholarship, creative activity or academic achievement; professional growth and development.
Required Qualifications:
• ALA-accredited MLS by July 1, 2010
• Minimum of one year of experience in electronic resource management, serials, acquisitions, collection development, or other aspect of technical services at the professional or paraprofessional level
• Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills
• Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities
• Proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing programs
• Ability to work in a collegial team-like environment with colleagues in department and throughout library
• Knowledge of major trends in scholarly communication
• Knowledge of emerging technologies as well as commitment to using technology to enhance library services
• Interest in and potential for meeting established promotion and tenure criteria
Preferred Qualifications:
• Three or more years of professional experience in library position
• Experience in managing library subscriptions for continuing resources
• Experience with Verde or other electronic resource management system (ERM)
• Experience with SFX or other link resolver
• Experience with Voyager or other integrated library management system
• Experience working in a consortial environment
• Experience in managing access, licenses, and data analysis for electronic resources
• Supervisory experience in a library setting
Screening of applications begins January 22, 2010, and continues until the position is filled. The position starting date is July 1, 2010.
